[BioC] tmp dir too small

Hi,

I am trying to install using getBioC() and it breaks down at unpacking the GO
package because after downlooading the installation file into /tmp the /tmp
directory was all full.  How can I tell R or this script to download files from
the internet to some other place on my Linux machine?  I used export
TMPDIR=/var/tmp but that didn't stop it from downloading files into /tmp still.
 Any idea?
