However, ther is not libcurl3-dev in synaptic. I use Ubuntu 7.10. Yes, XML 
is working now.

Well there is some progress, at least now XML is compiling ;-)

For RCurl, my mistake, I forgot to say that you also need libcurl3-dev.

Let me know if it still doesn't work.
