Hi Mohamed

Have a look at ?readLines. Perhaps that is what you want?

For example this will read 1 line from your file:

myoneline<-readLines("mydata.txt", n=1)

Regards

John

Dear all,

I will open the first line without opening the entire file because my
file is large?
thanks
ML
