R-alpha: axes & plot boundary

I don't rcall seeing this one reported before:

plot(...,axes=F) 

removes not only the axes, but also the plot boundary. The 'bty'
parameter loses its effect completely. getting it back seems to
require fiddling with par("usr") and rect() or lines()
