R-alpha: lbeta, ctrl-C and crashes

Not so, I'm afraid. There definitely have been changes to signals.c
and recompile doesn't change a thing. Time to push RedHat to make an
upgraded .rpm, I think. They've got a contributed one in
.../contrib/i386 already, I see. 

Hmm. The silly thing installs as libreadline.so.3.0. I wonder what the
point of that is... Means that you have to recompile R to make it use
the new library, but it does seem to work now.

BTW, do we have place to keep these installation related problems, so
that we won't have to answer them over and over again? We had a
similar item with the f2c library setup earlier and C compiler options
on. A series of README.linux, README.hpux, etc. files might do it
(model xfree).
