I've always thought is *WAS* deliberate...
At least it made sense to me at the time when I thought about it.

Anyway, we shouldn't be ``bossy'' on users, therefore,
I am about to change it (and its documentation)...

	}

	and the same for \itemize{ ... } ....
	
  [ However, LaTeX's  ``description'' is already taken in our Rd format..... ]
