libraries; Fortran / -lf2c / Slackware woes

In fact, one cannot. At least I couldn't get it to work, and I tried many
variations on this. The problem seems to be that this provides the information
for the purposes of generating the .so file, but it gets lost somewhere when you
try to dyn.load the .so into R.
