CPU utilization in Guido's Rbeta R62.3

I have noticed that a (seemingly) idle R process on an NT 4.0 machine
is reported by the task manager as consuming 99% of the CPU cycles.
I am not sure this is a problem since the machine still seems
responsive to other tasks. RJune does not exhibit this behavior.
