gunzip followed by bzip2, I think. (Checks: 1241Kb) Do you actually mean an
MS-DOS floppy? Most people use VFAT file systems on floppies these days,
including Windows. You can't write those file names to an MS-DOS floppy.
(Our computing officer did manage to set up RH6 Linux to use msdos,
though.)

I assume that the script used needs adjusting.  I have never bothered with
this: I just split a .tar.gz (or .tar.bz2) into 1400Kb chunks and
concatenate on the target machine.
