R-0.63.3 package on IRIX 6.5 machine (PR#145)

Hmm, this works perfecctly fine here on my machine. The index.txt file
is built during `make docs', so if it is missing the error should be
earlier than when doing `make install' ... are there any unusual
messages earlier in the make process?

Has anybody else experienced this problem?
