Compilation of R under Mandrake Linux 6.1 (helios)

My experience with Mandrake was that if you install "everything" then R 0.65.1
compiles without problem. (It does not automatically recognize gnome, but I
don't think it is suppose to and I'm not sure what that adds.) If you only
install selected components from the Mandrake checklist, like C development and
everything else you think you might need, then you don't get fortran and some
other things you need.
