There is an r-base_0.65.1 package for Debian Linux 2.1 on the CRAN
(Comprehensive R Archive Network) sites.  See, for example,
	  http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/R/bin/linux/debian/2.1/

Because the update.packages and install.packages functions are
available in this latest version of R, we no longer provide Debian
packages of the contributed packages on CRAN.  You can simply set the
option "CRAN" to the URL of a CRAN archive near you and use these
functions to install or update R packages.
