[Rd] x11 configure test

Well I have Mandrake 7.0 installed on two very similar machines and R
1.1.1 configures with
X11 support      no
Gnome support no
Tcl/Tk support no

on one and

X11 support      yes
Gnome support no
Tcl/Tk support yes

on the other. Both are running X11 and Gnome. I think I was told that
Gnome support has to be specifically indicated to configure, but I don't
understand what is happening to X11 and Tcl/Tk. (Of course, it would't
be the first time I've messed up something re-installing Linux.) I do
think the X11 support test seems a bit too particular about something. I
was actually running X11 when I did the configure that gave "X11 support
no".

BTW, should Linux X11-development be necessary or just X11 support?
