Hi,
   I'm running debian - upgraded fully to potato at the start of the
freeze and added latest libgnome-dev before configuring.

   I tried compiling with gnome support with

/usr/local/R/R-0.99.0/configure --with-gnome

and got the following output:

checking for gnome-config... /usr/bin/gnome-config
checking if /usr/bin/gnome-config works... yes
checking for orbit-config... /usr/bin/orbit-config
checking for orbit-idl... /usr/bin/orbit-idl
checking for working ORBit environment... yes
checking for gnorba libraries... yes
Unknown library `applets'
checking for libglade-config... no
checking for libglade... no
configure: warning: GNOME support requires libglade version >= 0.3

According to dpkg I have:

solzhenitsyn:~/TEACHING/RSM98> dpkg -l \*glade\*
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge
| Status=Not/Installed/Config-files/Unpacked/Failed-config/Half-installed
|/ Err?=(none)/Hold/Reinst-required/X=both-problems (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name           Version        Description
+++-==============-==============-============================================

ii libglade0 0.11-2 Library to load .glade files at runtime.

According to apt-get libglade0 is the newest version, so I'm assuming that
0.11 is > 0.3  and there doesn't seem to be a *glade*dev* or anything,
or that would have shown up.
