[Rd] text() with large cex parameter crashes X11() (PR#553)

Works also for me, RH 6.2 Linux; both with 1.0.1 and R-devel [of today];
also work for R running on Solaris (2.5.1, X11R6.3) with DISPLAY on Linux.
