Without too much difficulty I made an R 1.2.2 for Mac OS X (final 
release candidate)
using X11R6 and the dlopen shimlibs (which interface to the Mach-O dyld
system).  I am still working on the tcl/tk part, and I don't have an X11 
browser
yet for the html help, but the nice thing is that certainly the dynamic 
loading
and the graphics work fine.

Of course it's X11, so it looks much worse than the classic Mac OS 
version
that Stefano did, and a Carbon version  would be infinitely more useful,
but  this was quick and painless.
