   Confirmed.  I've just found a Mandarke7.2 system with gcc 2.95.2 on,
and that passes the check (as does the RH6.2 system when using these
same binaries).

   Thanks.

   Now to track down the SGI problem....(which is already using gcc
2.95.2).
