graphics changes

Hi

I have committed some changes to R's graphics code which means that the
current version of the grid package on CRAN (0.6-1) will NOT
install/run on the development version of R.

I have submitted to CRAN a new version of grid which does install/run,
but this may not be available immediately.  In the meantime, the new
grid version is available at
http://www.stat.auckland.ac.nz/~paul/grid/grid_0.7.tar.gz
