Did you run tools/rsync-recommended? (See
http://developer.r-project.org/devel-guidelines.txt)

(Vince, I'd appreciate a slightly longer fuse before having *changes*
in the build procedure for the development version show up on the
public bug lists. You might have asked R-core.)
