Look on a mirror of the site alpha.gnu.org.

It's a known bug in GNU tar.  The `alpha' version tar-1.13.25 fixes it,
and is already 18 months old (1.13 is nearly 4 years old): makes one
wonder if GNU tar is being maintained.
