No.  Please do read its help before posting (as the posting guide 
asked you to).

      In non-interactive use the result is as if the response was RETURN
      and the value is ‘""’.

library(fortunes); fortune('WTFM') applies (and I have no idea why you 
asked this R-help question on R-devel).
