R-beta: edit figs with xfig?

We have had a lot of success editing figures from Splus (and R should be no
different here) with xfig using the pstoedit program which is able to convert
postscript to a range of editable formats, including fig but also I think
various things which might be usable in the commercial drawing packages.
You'll have to search the 'net for a source of this program as I can't find a
location in the source packet I have here but I seem to remember that it
wasn't hard to find.

pstoedit proved invaluable in fixing up Splus's plotting bugs (leaving out
lines or tickmarks) and augmenting figures for a recent textbook project. We
can't imagine life without it now!
