Something similar happens to me when g77 is not found and I get f2c instead. You
might check which fortran compiler is found (somewhere in the output from
./configure). I had to put a link f77 -> g77 somewhere near the beginning of my
path. The libf2c shouldn't be needed if you are using g77.
