R-beta: S+ toolboxes in R?

I don't know for sure (we don't ``want to'' afford these ..),
but I assume all of these are relying on compiled code, the source of which
is not available.

If this was not true, there would be some chance that (some) of their
functions run flawlessly in R.
Actually, (almost) all the graphics which relies on Trellis doesn't work
either in R.

For wavelets, there is a free wavelets package (of Guy Nason) on Statlib.
This should be portable more or less easily to R.

For ARCH, you may get a (very) partial solution, by using Paul Gilbert's
DSE library (available from <<CRAN>>/src/contrib/devel/dse* )
