[R] Where is the base package?

The problem with NTFS in standard mode is that it keeps case but does not
honor it. This is fine if a program just hands file names over to the C
runtime but this means trouble if the program does its own file name
comparisons. The additional problems caused by the Win95 style explorer that
assigns upper or lower cases to the file name letters only cause further
confusion.
Meddling with the file names had no effect on the error message.
I did not look at the R source code until know, but it seems to be time for
a rebuild from the sources to do some bug hunting.
