`It sometimes does not work' reports are frustratingly unhelpful. Could
_you_ give the details and then we may be able to give the help. 
I no longer have a Win95 machine, so need very detailed diagnostics.


Yes, I know VR53pl037 unpacks into its own directory: that is intentional,
as you are supposed to read the top-level files. If your students can't
cope with that, you could re-package a version of R for them as you like it
(and write your own installer?). Alternatively, I could remove
VR53pl037.zip, and let them install from the CRAN sources, when that
tiny extra step will not be needed.
