There were also two reports on ports of 1.1.1 within the last couple
of months on R-devel.

Date: Mon, 11 Sep 2000 18:40:54 +0200
To: r-devel at stat.math.ethz.ch
From: Stefano Iacus <jago at mclink.it>
Subject: [Rd] R 1.1.1 (and 1.2.0) on Mac (PPC) and "/afm/" bugs (?)

From: flip at skidmore.edu
Date: Mon, 16 Oct 2000 03:04:00 +0200 (MET DST)
To: r-devel at stat.math.ethz.ch
Subject: [Rd] build errors in configure script (PR#697)

One is plain PPC Mac, the other is OS X. Both seemed quite optimistic.
(The bugs they reported were fairly trivial to work around).
