dev.print() won't help in this respect, will it? I've just been doing
a bunch of plots to the tune of

 dev.print(file='LRT-variants.ps', height=3.5, width=4, horizontal=FALSE)

(with 1.1.1 - I think some of this got changed for 1.2.0, but forgot
exactly what...)

The real problem is that "horizontal" means landscape, i.e. orientate
the *paper* horisontally before plotting. The docs could be clearer on
that count I suppose.
