I have compiled R-1.2 (the development version) on Debian 2.2 on a PII, and
it went very smoothly. I guess it should be the same for R-1.1.1. You need
gcc and XFree86 (the versions distributed with Debian 2.2 are fine). I have
also tcl/tk installed, and the examples in R's demos run correctly.
