[R] Problem with R INSTALL locfit on DEC alphaev56-dec-osf4.0d

Dear all,

I have reinstalled R-1.1.1 and locfit (Locfit for R 0.99.0) and still
have the same
problem - R hangs after calling locfit:

> x <- rnorm(100)    
> b <- locfit(~x)

What is the recommended way to find the cause?
