          Hi!

      I tried to configure and compile R 1.4.0 on a
      sun sparc solaris 2.6 box using the sun compiler (workshop 6?);
      but:

       same settings (in config.site)
       configures and compiles without problems for
       a sun sparc solaris 2.7 box. odd.
       but I need the solaris 2.6 version...

       if I tried something stupid,
       any hint is welcome!

       best regards.
       martin rother.
