[R] Updated introductory text

Yes, that looks *VERY NICE*, and I think we should definitely put this
on CRAN.  [I also like the banquet data ... the conclusion is that the
lattice was bad?]

I have three remarks.

* Technically one should refer to R add-ons as *packages* (and not as
  *libraries*).

* I'd prefer only putting up the .pdf file.

* Re scripts and data, one option is to the same as for Jim's ``Data
  Analysis and Graphics Using R'' who makes these available via his home
  page, and CRAN has a link to this.  Alternatively, we could set up a
  place in CRAN which holds ``packages'' which are really data and
  scripts and perhaps some extra code to be used along with docs.
