[R] key()

Has anyone written a stand-in for the S-Plus key function
that implements as many of the capabilities as possible
using the R legend function?  I am seeking an approximate
key() that is called the same way as in S-Plus.  I am trying
to save some work in porting the Hmisc and Design libraries.
