[R] system() that reads to EOL?

In a continuing effort to implement some of the suggestions in the
"Scripting for R..." thread, I have been looking at system(), which does
almost what is needed, except that:

system() looks like it waits for EOF and then dumps everything in the
pipe to stdout or /dev/null.

Have I missed a command that will wait for EOL and use this as stdin - I
think with Rstd_ReadConsole()? Thanks for any suggestions.

Jim
