The bad news is that the figures from our book cannot yet be
constructed in R. They rely heavily on the trellis graphics functions
in S-PLUS.

The good news is that lattice, the R implementation of the trellis
graphics style, should show up in the src/Devel section on CRAN
"soon". Deepayan Sarkar's <deepayan at stat.wisc.edu> implementation of
lattice is ready to go but it depends on Paul Murrell's grid package
that is still being developed.

Once lattice is available, (most of?) the figures in our book will be
available in R.
