[R] installing R for unix on PC

Hi,

there is no need of disk partitioning for "partitionless" versions of
installations in a few Linux distributions (at least RH, MDK).
The instalator installs Linux in "images" on disk with FAT32 fs, but system
runs slower than when insalled on native (ext2, ext3,...)
Linux partition, therefore partitioning your harddisk is better.

If you have access to some Linux systems, try

man fdisk
or
fdisk --help

If you have Windows on the whole disk (for example when one partition ==
whole disk), then
fips
utility helps (it shrinks primary DOS/Win partitions and you then can use
the freed area for Linux).

Dear R-users,
Probably this is rather  general  question and I apologize for this:
I'm using R and other  softwares on Win and I would like to install Linux
on my
PC in order to be able  to install R for unix.
Is there anyone that wants to suggest me what do I  need to partion my hard

disk and to install linux and then R?
In this way I  could use both Win and Linux on my PC, am I right?
Is there any web-page  where I can find some information?
