[R] installing R for unix on PC

I've had pretty good luck installing Linux on a Windows '98 machine using
Partition Magic. As their instructions suggest, you need to make sure you
start your Linux partition somewhere in the first eight megabytes or so.
Also, I've heard that Win2k machines can be a problem.

This is a bit tricky if you don't want
to lose data. The SuSe manual has clear
directions on
reclaiming space from Win to install Linux. BUT, personally,
I would buy a second hard disk: disks are not expensive
and this can save you a lot of trouble (unless you are
willing to re-format your current disk).
