- read.xport() is in package foreign, so use library(foreign) before 
using the function.

Please read the manual R Data Import / Export.
You cannot read from Excel with read.table() directly, but there are at 
least three other ways, in particular by using RODBC or exporting / 
importing through in ASCII format.
