[R] R won't connect to the internet

Dear Mick,

Have you tried to change the properties of your shortcut 
(right-click on the shortcut); add "--internet2" for the
target (works at least on W2K).

If that fails, create a small *.bat file, containing the 
line

\yourpath\Rgui --internet2

and probably, before executing this, insert the line

cd \yourHome
