[R] Setting max values for rpois

At a second thought, probably what you want is the following:

> sum(apply(outer(0:3,l*recruit.f,dpois),2,function(x) sample(0:3,1,prob=x))) 

In this case the distribution of offsprings for each female is Poisson,
conditional on # of offsprings <= 3.
