[R] socketConnection and readLines

Dear R People:


I have tried the following code:

>con <- socketConnection(port=13, host="tick.usno.navy.mil")
>readLines(con)


The socketConnection function works, but the readLines command just sits.

This has happened on R for Windows 1.8.1 and 1.9.0 and R on LINUX 1.8.1

Any suggestions, please
