[R] image() and text

Dear useRs,

I have 4Ã—4 symmetrical matrix ; then I use

image(log(my.matrix)) to visualise it.

Is there any 'simple' way to add text labels into each cell lie on 
diagonal of the image plot? Thanks for any pointers...
