[R] Install R 2.3.1 on SUSE Linux

There is a SuSE 10.0 machine somewhere.  Yes: I installed R on it,
and it works well there:

   $ rpm -qf /usr/lib/libgfortran.so
   gcc-fortran-4.0.2_20050901-3
