[R] Q: how to interrupt long calculation?

On linux and solaris, I have had some luck doing a CTRL-Z (STOP signal)
and the resuming later... some libraries have issues (I don't recall
which) but...usually pretty good.

But then I would lose all the work. There must be some way to merely
interrupt the current calculation. Mustn't there?
