Hello,

It might be too much of an overkill, but one possible thing is to use 
?taskCallbackManager to save the history after each high level call. 
Something like:

     h <- taskCallbackManager()
     h$add(function(expr, value, ok, visible) {
                            savehistory()
                            return(TRUE)
                          }, name = "historyHandler")
