Use 'sprintf' to format your data before writing out:

> sprintf("%G", runif(10,1e6, 1e10))
 [1] "3.67382E+09" "9.47111E+09" "1.02591E+09" "5.368E+09"
"8.17346E+08" "2.89006E+09" "6.62398E+09" "1.29721E+09" "9.99348E+09"
[10] "6.73539E+09"
