[R] User manual or tutorial for GAM package

Perhaps you could be more specific in your request? The gam function  
in the gam package has 4 pages describing the syntax and multiple  
examples, so saying you "can not quite seem to get the syntax correct  
for my data format as simple as it is." is impossibly non-specific.
