[R] How to reference a package in academical paper

"meta$date" is in the source file (in inst/CITATION).  You could change 
it to 2006 manually.

I suspect if that file was automatically produced it is trying to 
reproduce the date of the current version of the package, for packages 
that don't have an associated article.
