[R] Encoding of Sweave file error message

I also had the same problem.

Being on Linux, I prefer Walmes' command line method but I found that putting
\usepackage[utf8x]{inputenc}
as the first instruction in the master .Rnw file also does the trick. No need to change anything after that in the file, at least not for me!
