[R] How I can rearrange columns in data.frame?

Is there a particular logic to that ordering? Otherwise, the obvious way is

nm <- c("preV15A1b", "preV59A1b", "preV1001A1b", "preV2032A1b", "preV2035A1b")
dat1 <- dat[nm]

Or, maybe you are looking for something like this?

o <- order(as.numeric(sub("preV([0-9]*)A1b", "\\1", names(dat))))
(dat1 <- dat[o])
